L'Estartit forms part of Torroella de Montgrí,
the Mountain of Montgri divides the Alt and Baix
Empordà on top of the mountain range the Castle of Montgrí.
L'Estartit itself is a tourist resort and one of the attractions are the
Marine Reserve of Les Medes. These are a protected nature reserve,
with a important colony of herring gulls and a fabulous underwater
life. Divers from all over visit the islands on a regular basis
although there are now restrictions on the access to the area.
